Ratings & Reviews

  1. Erica Narduzzi's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

  2. Alvise Narduzzi's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

Bravi 'sti coreani.

  3. Wee Hunk's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

They should call it an action/comedy movie. There are so many great characters in this one. The hallway scenes also reminded me of 'Oldboy'. But that movie was dead serious. Seen it a couple of times.

  9. James Mackin's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

A really good gangster film that's all about lamps.

  10. Fabio Osvaldo Carta's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

  11. jchandleroc's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

An absolute standout film in its genre. The only film that compares, in my opinion, is A DIRTY CARNIVAL. It is starkly modern, existential, and replete with 21st century malaise. Themes of alienation and loss are accented by scenes of harsh violence that do not seem gratuitous or inappropriate. There is a longing in this film for something one can never have.

  13. theilluminaut's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

A brutal Korean revenge film that glorifies the hero whilst unveiling his vulnerabilities. The film doesn’t hold back on the graphic nature that the hero must endure in the crime underworld. And in doing so, this makes the hero feel very human and not just a superficial, choreographed, action fighter.

  14. Gustavo Razera's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

Two or three endings too many.

  15. J.J. 'Jake' Gittes's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

Overall a good movie. It misses the opportunity to become a masterpiece. Never ever boring, although it takes the time it needs. Very good action, violence scenes; cool, smart, convincing acting performances; brilliant camera, super cutting, nice music. Top of the top. But the characters! Totally underdeveloped. What, why, when, how, who?? We don’t know anything. But love hurts.

  20. jjekim's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

One of Lee Byung Hyun's best performance

  21. Nick Schwab's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

A by-the-numbers hit man crime-thriller that follows all the plot conventions in an unspectacular way-- a hit man grows a conscience during a job, his bosses seek atonement on him, for him to seek vengeance on them-- and the first 1 1/2 hours is about as simplistic as you can get, with the drama typical and the story trajectory/character arc very cliched. The final 35 minutes delivers the brainless fun, at least.

  22. Gabriele Taddei's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

Grandissimo Thriller come in occidente ci si sogna di fare

  23. Josh Fenton's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

This one stayed with me for a while, a pleasant introduction to the Korean film-world. Great plot which allowed such fantastic interactions between charachters

  24. raggiodisole's rating of the film A Bittersweet Life

super stylish, a lovely-looking film. the story was uneven, though, and the pace of the film towards the end in particular meant that any tension built sagged away. Fair play though to your man, he was very hard to kill. Ramboesque
