Nos deux compères à la célèbre université anglaise. Irrésistible ! www.cinefiches.com

4.5 stars. This is one of L&H's best features imo. The story is quite well thought out which isnt always the case and it isnt based on an operetta as is often in their features. Def worth a look. Look for the different edits, there is a longer version and a streamlined version included on the latest DVD box set

  3. Stephen Jay Walsh's rating of the film A Chump at Oxford

Not Laurel and Hardy's greatest film, perhaps, but Laurel's performance as Lord Paddington, into whom he is transformed after being struck on the 'cranium' by a falling window, features some quite extraordinary comic acting. And, like the best Laurel and Hardy, it is touched by a great poignancy as Laurel/Paddington, having forgotten Hardy, takes him on as his 'rather thick as it were' valet. Greatly moving.
