Ratings & Reviews

  1. Eleanor Abernathy's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

i own this and it's great. i watch it when i feel movies are being shitty.

  2. alixrajabi's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

This had nothing to do with the Taking Back Sunday song of the same name therefore it was unenjoyable.

  3. BrianFromConcentrate's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

It's a shame this was Ted Demme's last project. This documentary and his last feature film, "Blow", really represent the work of someone on their way up. He died of an accidental cocaine overdose at 38 years old.

  4. Henrique Verkündigung's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

although they're sorry about not including lots of directors, movies and people in this film, it seems to me that not mentioning Antonioni's 'Zabriskie Point' is a terrible mistake!! Still. a great documentary about one of the most amazing decades of our history!

  5. jeffreyreeser's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

is that the right running time? the one I saw was a little over two hours...

  6. There Will Be Josh Schasny's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

Basically my entire 70s film class done in three hours. Very informative, very interesting. They did not cut too many corners and cover a decent amount of films. It's a shame that certain filmmakers were not included for various reasons (not interested, death, being Terrence Malick....) but it is worth seeing nonetheless. Especially if you like 70s films.

  7. Pigo's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

  8. Hunter Duesing's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

This doc would be far more interesting in the filmmakers weren't only interested in blowing their subjects. There are some informative bits here & there, but in the end it's a lot of guys yapping about how great they are before blaming a few other guys who aren't included for spoiling the creative freedom afforded to them. Just write down the movies they mention you're interested in and get real insights from a book.

  9. David R.'s rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

Some of the "back in MY day" talk gets to be a bit much (especially once the pernicious influence of The Blockbuster rears its head), but as a document & love letter to the cinema of the 70s, it's beyond fantastic.

  10. DK's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

Far superior sociologically-speaking to slick-fest Easy Riders and Raging Bulls. The talking heads here are surprisingly candid and informative in equal measure. Mandatory for anyone interested in American cinema...

  11. Thresk's rating of the film A Decade Under the Influence

Glad to finally see this on MUBI. And a nice still.
