  1. Jason's rating of the film A Girl in Every Port

To read into Hawks' various films about male bonding, friendship, and professional filiation homoerotic or cryptoqueer subtexts is to do the films themselves a fundamental disservice; these are very weird EMOTIONAL bonds, intense, almost strangely life and death. A GIRL IN EVERY PORT is especially combustive in having godhead Louise Brooks thrown into the mix. This is a comedy? More like a crypt in which I weep.

Sur le thème de l'amitié, une oeuvre décontractée du grand Howard Hawks avec un tonitruant Victor Mac Laglen et la toujours envoûtante Louise Brooks... www.cinefiches.com

  6. Amadeus Magnus's rating of the film A Girl in Every Port

One of the best comedies of silent era. first half is brilliant, it could be a masterpiece if the second half was better. and a general comment: Buddy movies aren't gay. Friendship is everywhere, from Casablanca to BTFF or Rocky III. I'm tired of this crap.
