This film, made with very modest means, is one of the first films Johan van der Keuken made on his own. Here he tried to film freely without the constraints of anecdote, storyline or predefined script.

In its initial frames, the film shows us, in plongée, still crowds on Dam Square, in Amsterdam, waiting for the trafic light to turn green: the effect is that time seems stopped with a latent mobility, a fixed-time with a movement that is willing to start, a time in suspension, a dynamic stagnation. It is a wonderful beginning that is repeated at the end, in a film that is a beautiful print of one city.
