Although not totally satisfying in its details, its intriguing story of greed and degradation punctuated by accurate frames of the backwoods deserves a chance. Review and Rating: http://alwayswatchgoodmovies.blogspot.com/2013/09/a-single-shot-2013.html
Awesome movie! The dark atmosphere and somber landscapes are mesmerizing and while the movie develops slowly it never gets boring. Sam Rockwell has a good performance as a hunter trapped by his actions in a claustrophobic small village, where everyone is connected and no secret can be buried. When things start to escalate you can't look away. The script has nothing innovative to it but the movie is still quite good.
Yeah, I like it when it's all grim and gritty! The atmosphere is perfectly done. the movie is nicely shot and Rockwell is as good as ever, if not better. It could have been a real good movie with a better script. Oh yeah, there's Ted Livine in this one which is always a good thing.
A great independent film with strong, absorbing performances and a dark, brooding atmosphere. Somewhere between Southern Gothic and horror, it's a tragic and violent tale of foolish crime in a small town of interconnected degenerates. The production itself is fantastic - consistently gritty, dirty, dim and steeped in shadows. The story is a little sparse, but the atmosphere makes up for that.
