Ratings & Reviews

  1. Rocco's rating of the film A Star Is Born

Now, I’m not opposed to a vanity project per se, but this showcases Barbra at her joyless, overwrought worst. Never once do we as an audience feel as if Babs needs her leading man until his death, after which the histrionics never let up. This culminates in a finale number that foolishly trades Streisand’s famously round, crystalline tones for a medley of wails and frenzied Afro shaking. A real turkey.

  3. FISCHER's rating of the film A Star Is Born

Troisième version, après celle de Wellman (1937) et de Cukor (1954) d'une étonnante fadeur... www.cinefiches.com

  4. Scott Lucas's rating of the film A Star Is Born

Pretty awful, but it's my mom's favorite movie. And Kris Kristofferson. Aw, who am I fooling? I like it.

  5. Aflwydd's rating of the film A Star Is Born

To think Streisand wanted John Cassavetes to direct this! Now, that would have made for an interesting film.

  6. Jaspar Lamar Crabb's rating of the film A Star Is Born

    Bloated, grotesque, outre, dull, fascinating....

  7. Roscoe's rating of the film A Star Is Born

The film is a trainwreck, an ego-trip of colossal dimensions. Dreadful. But there are some cool songs, and some of the best unintentional laughs available.
