While the second half of the movie was masterfully crafted by director Fernando Coimbra and acted by a powerhouse Leandra Leal, it's first half suffers greatly from an insipid and futile rashomon-style narrative device and some very painful performances by the male cast. The ending is pretty fucking bleak. And pitch perfect.
Intense, with a great performance by Leandra Leal. Fernando Coimbra did a terrific job crafting this suspenseful thriller, and is an impressive talent of contemporary Brazilian cinema. Also appreciated the setting of Rio de Janeiro's Zona Norte, which offers a distinct landscape and atmosphere from Zona Sul, where films are typically shot.
