    The beautiful instinctive fury of his previous films is here quite tamed by a narrative at all debtor of a standard classicism, applied to an usual confused fiction that precisely needed his primitive invention to make it assimilable. Plus the misconception of the protagonist actress that confuses the silent film acting with a needless repetition of meanings. There are, however, flushes of his former splendor.
