An expose of the baby-profiteering racket as told through the story of an unwed mother whose family and friends start an investigation as to the whereabouts of her baby. This leads to and through an organized gang led by a society matron.

3.7* Slightly cheezy exploitation story about a baby-selling racket, but good Noir photography and some good supporting actors, including Raymond Burr, and one of my favorite character actors, Mike Mazurki ("Moose Malloy" in Murder, My Sweet).
A few improbabilities: Raymond Burr strangled in less than 10 seconds, a baby exposed to carbon monoxide during more than 10 minutes who's in perfect health the day after and a reporter giving advices to the chief of detectives. It's Hollywood allright but it shocked me. Already forgotten.
