A little more satisfying than the first instalment, though there's still something disappointingly amateur about half of the entries. The cream of the crop was surely Knell, Split, and Zygote. Grandad was peculiar and quirky, while Badger was excellently executed and laugh-out-loud funny. I found most of the others to be offensively dull and unimaginative. Where do they find these "directors"?
Second entry is another mix of the good, the bad and the disgusting. Best in show 'S is for Split (Moreno)', 'K is for Knell (Buozyte/Samper)', 'R is for Roulette (Kren)', 'Z is for Zygote (Nash)', 'W is for Wish (Kostanski), and 'N if for Nexus (Fessenden)'. Worst is 'L is for Legacy', 'M is for Masticate', 'P if for P-P-P-P Scary', and special disgusting mention to 'G is for Grandad'.
Worse than the first one in the series, seeing that the overall quality of the shorts is way lower . The only segments who rise over the bland decency all the others have, are the ones directed by Robert Morgan (D), Bill Plympton (H) and Soichi Umezawa (Y). But even those 3 segments can't make it worth your while to watch the whole thing.
There's a brilliance to a film like this, and having not viewed the first one all the way through, I'm almost glad I began here as a journey into ABCs of Death. I love that each film style and story and director has its own individual flair, all of which have talking points beyond that of a singular picture. You can literally come out of a viewing of this and not run out of things to recall. Wonderfully executed.
Much better than the first. Some standout segments--D, K, R & Z--but most of the rest are at least clever or interesting. Even the bad ones are usually just so-so, unlike the first movie where the bad ones were really bad.
