Directed by Ivan Martinac
Yugoslavia, 1968
Avant-Garde, Short

Ivan Martinac is deemed to be a complete mystery even amongst the most obscure filmmakers from former Yugoslavia. This Split-born poet has left a legacy of idealistic seeking for the “pure” cinema, as in his structuralist approaches in conjuring philosophical meditations on life and death.

now the movement and the flow of this film is weird. i will dare to even say brilliant. slow beginning, images of the city, people, train, smoke...everything seems to go in it's "natural", "real" time - but the subject feeling of that same time is completely different. in a moment images change faster i thought it was 2-3 minutes after the film started when i saw "the end". no wonder he took t.s.eliot's sentence...
