Excellent biopic based on the life of Kinuyo Tanaka which offers some intriguing insights regarding her collaboration with Mizoguchi. It's a pity though that the films ends with her role in "The Life of Oharu" and doesn't cover her subsequent work as a director. One can easily assume that this film influenced the more well-known "Center Stage" on Ruan Lingyu given that both works have quite a similar structure.
