For sure Loach is a great director but this film!!! I couldnt find any attachment with the character and their cultural experiences. Hence I can understand both backgrounds as Loach give us enough information but I don't feel them. Simply it didn't evoke my emotions. I guess 2 stars is fair though I could give one comparing this with other films he made.
Typically devoid of any flair, Loach's film is a tapestry of modern multiculturalism and the effects of clashes between cultures. Fair to say that the British Pakistani community bears most of the flak here but credit to Loach for what it seems a fairly dispassionate take on universal cross-culture issues, bigotry and personal freedom. Film splashed with powerful scenes along with a more or less pedestrian plot.
