Africville in Black and White

Directed by Cyrus Sundar Singh
Canada, 2017
Documentary

Synopsis

For over 150 years, Africville was home to a tightly knit community of African-Canadians, primarily descendants of former slaves and Black Loyalists. They found refuge on the shores of Halifax’s Bedford Basin until the 1960s, when the city forcibly evicted the residents and demolished their homes.
