I've seen this several times, it is one of my favorites of the era. It's a simplistic story but what I love so much is Algie himself. He isn't bucking any sort of standard or norm, he just is who he is. Through that he attracts a loving woman, a best friend (or more?), and wins out in the end. Very interesting portrayal of alcoholism, very poignant that the biggest of men is saved by the smallest.
