Ratings & Reviews

  1. Daniel Iván's rating of the film All Things Must Pass; the Rise and Fall of Tower Records

Beautiful bio-pic of the sorts, with a truly delicate narrative curve. The subject of this movie makes it very difficult to fail: pure joy, success and failure. A must watch.

  2. Valentina Sanchez's rating of the film All Things Must Pass; the Rise and Fall of Tower Records

Very well done! To see Solomon be applauded in Japan was the tear jerker for me. Hand Truck Fuel!!!

  3. Filipe F. Coutinho's rating of the film All Things Must Pass; the Rise and Fall of Tower Records

Hanks services the narrative without taking many risks and the result is a documentary focused more on the business side of Tower Records when it really should be about the music and its impact on the world around it. The artist is always bigger than the retailer and it seems like only Springsteen captured the poetry behind such a potentially interesting subject.

  4. Aardsy's rating of the film All Things Must Pass; the Rise and Fall of Tower Records

Turns out it's a pretty tedious, uninteresting story.

  5. HKFanatic's rating of the film All Things Must Pass; the Rise and Fall of Tower Records

It's a shame that the most interesting aspects of this story - for instance, Tower Records' humble origins as a drug store and the its eventual demise in the Napster era - are unfortunately mere bookends to "All Things Must Pass." The majority of the documentary consists of former employees proclaiming how wild it was to do a lot of coke and sell records in the 70's, not to mention the needless celebrity cameos.
