Campy beyond words... Messy, tacky, poorly written, full of disposable characters and stories. No urgency, no tension, no elegance, no mystery. The Murder House episode stained the good memories I had of that first season. I felt embarrassed for such a talented (but crowded) cast having to put up with the garbage the writers give them - particularly Cody Fern, who did the very best he could under the circumstances.
I'm going to keep it short but honest since I'm sensing a lot of rage in this section. It's very simple: Murphy could throw a season with Madison Montgomery, the coven, Stevie Nicks, voodoo, satanic rituals and this gorgeous Antichrist that I'd gladly watch. And that's that.
And side note: no, the previous seasons don't seem to have been "destroyed"; if anything, they were given context.
