Joe d'Amato, George Eastman and a VERY VERY bizarre script. Look for the interviews conceeded by both of them on how things developed on the set. Simply hilarious. As a terror movie it's quite mediocre and the only thing that has brought this flick to fame is the "famous scene". Enjoyable.
I enjoyed watching this film very much. The setting (a deserted island, small streets, white houses) and the soundtrack by Marcello Giombini really set the sphere of the entire film. Creepy and exciting scenes, with the famous gore scene. I'd rate 3 1/2 stars but that's not possible here. It is the first D'Amato film I've seen and it would not be the last.
Perla.
Mystifying, yet gorgeous and engrossing (ha...) picture that may be the highlight of D'Amato's career. I passed this off because of a bit too much stalking way back when, but there's no mistaking that the director made this film his own. The Greek island adds as well, but it's truly the auteur's time to shine with Antropophagus. White sheets and self-cannibalization. Quite, yes. Bonus points for the headphone dude.
