Danny Perez United States, 2016

Nicholas Gregory's rating of the film Antibirth

Art isn't about likability, but ideas, intention, and especially, conveyed emotion. Perez nails the first two, yet his storyless, avant-garde plot meanders along, feeling mostly disconnected until it goes bonkers with its Ken Russell-style hallucinogenic surreality, while before that the punk-as-fuck outsider rebellion of Alex Cox in a Rosemary's Baby psychological narrative makes it a respectable conception.
