Ratings & Reviews

  1. Funda Can Çuvalcı's rating of the film Arcadia

3.5/5. Very realistic, intimate. Its being slow paced is not a problem, I guess. Its slowness is consistent with the theme and the realistic tone of the film.

  2. msmichel's rating of the film Arcadia

Tale of a father taking his kids to a new home in California while keeping secrets about the whereabouts of their mother treads no new ground succumbing to the road movie clichés for the most part. Luckily the quartet of lead performances are good with John Hawkes scoring well and the two young Simpkins kids excelling. Feels so much longer than its 91m runtime however owing to its derivative scripting and direction.

  3. Gustavo Herrera Taboada's rating of the film Arcadia

Intimate, subtle, moving family narrative from the rare perspective of a young daughter. Gretta is an unsung heroine of everyday life. Very fitting casting and soothing score.

  4. captainfez's rating of the film Arcadia

  5. José Marín's rating of the film Arcadia

Beautiful coming-of-age film that shows perfectly the phase in which a youngster must face several truths about life: the coming of adulthood, sexual awakenings, realizing that parents are flawed beings... Its slow pace intends to portray the process of growth (physical and emotional), and Sympkins´ acting is very good.

  6. Alexandra Díaz Vásquez's rating of the film Arcadia

I found it to be just okay. Too slow paced. Would've been a lot better if it were shorter.

  7. chazell's rating of the film Arcadia

  8. Bea Vea's rating of the film Arcadia

A slow-paced but steady family drama.

  9. Bilouaustria's rating of the film Arcadia

A simple and touching road-movie, low profile, first presented at Sundance as a short. This 91 minutes version got selected in Berlin. Around the father, three kids, and both a trip to Arcadia (california, but the opposite of the american dream) and to adulthood. Very much the kind of film Sofia Coppola could have made, maybe here less dreamy and at times more frontal.

  10. Dom Weinberg's rating of the film Arcadia

Probably 2.5, it's not bad, just not really very good or memorable in any way either...
