Oscillating with ups and downs, this moody, felinely romantic film has not much to show off besides its bizarreness, which was, nevertheless, glamorously combined with an eligible eclectic soundtrack that includes Albert Tyler, Funkadelic, and Spirit of the Beehive. (2.5 stars)
Early on I felt like I was encountering a world bordering on my world which had been given excellent shape and dimension. This is an immersive movie. We are clearly in the hands of a director of vision. For much of the film I didn't feel like it was too fable-like or outrageous, simply because I feel like I have almost literally lived some of this stuff. But then it stridently does become a cute little fable. Blech.
