Michael Palin decides to travel around the world without the use of planes and do it in eighty days. It becomes far more difficult than he thought which makes this an original and fun travelogue that also is locked in it's own fascinating time capsule. Michael Palin stresses through the country with no time to see the "usual sights" and it seems to be a pretty stressed experience. Luckily his presence add to the fun.
Wonderful. Reminds me that there are lots of classic TV to explore. I love the slow pace of the series, not fast cutting all the time like in modern television. Palin manages to make this a lot more personal than the usual generic travel shows, plus the challenge makes him travel off the beaten track. Also a portrait of the world in the late 80s. Last few episodes are perhaps not as good as the first 3-4.
