Filming the winter landscapes of the plains and villages of Ain, where the sanctified priest the Curé of Ars lived, Jacques Demy tried to understand the fighter for the faith and his daily torments of mysticism.

As a psychogeographic post-mortem, Ars is replete with a profound desire for spiritual submission and understanding. The somber tone diverges from Jacques Demy’s more famous entries yet the wandering camera speaks to the same innate understanding of space, accompanied by feelings of the sublime.
