The human condition is a spectrum, thus I have no reason not to believe in asexuality as a genuine identity. That said, this film seemed conflicted. Is it a movie about asexuality or about David Jay, who, incidentally seemed to backpedal in the end? It's one thing to grow into/out of a way of being, to shift gears, to evolve or reevaluate, but his near tears suggested something else. Also Dan Savage is a jerk.
