Ratings & Reviews

  1. Nick Schwab's rating of the film Assassination

A flavorful and entertaining, if depthless and plot-heavy, flick that again shows that even when modern South Korean films do falter into messy-melodramatic hokum, they are still beautiful disasters that have no shortage of cleverness to them. As while Assassination is more interested in its character betrayals than their complexities, and isn't more than a photogenic popcorn flick...it's yummy popcorn.

  2. Bonnet Michel's rating of the film Assassination

  3. Martin De Martin's rating of the film Assassination

Intrattiene e diverte, senza - purtroppo - emozionare granché.

  4. msmichel's rating of the film Assassination

Deftly plotted Korean action film/ period piece boasting excellent production values and a final act that excels. Gianna Jun, Ha Jung-woo and Lee Jung-jae are aces amongst a cast of pros. After the populist 'The Thieves' director Choi Dong-hoon shows great growth in adding some depth to the action. Well worth a watch.

  5. Amy's rating of the film Assassination

Extra for Gianna Jun's trilingual acting.

  6. HKFanatic's rating of the film Assassination

With a scattershot storyline immeshed in the details of Korean history, an unwieldy cast of characters, and a staggered runtime, this isn't the most accessible film for the foreign market. Regardless, the slick production values and kinetic action scenes ensure that "Assassination" is an entertaining night at the movies, even if it lacks the frivolity and fun of director Choi Dong-hoon's previous hit "The Thieves."

  7. Sơn Nguyễn's rating of the film Assassination

  8. Carlos Filipe Freitas's rating of the film Assassination

Mr. Dong-hoon, regardless having recreated the period with nice looking images by the cinematographer, Kim Woo-hyung, assembled a cheap Hollywood imitation thwarted by a scattered narrative, convoluted plot, lack of conviction in choosing the direction to be taken, and indistinguishable characters that didn’t show sufficient arguments to make us care.

  9. eek's rating of the film Assassination

  10. spiderliliez's rating of the film Assassination

Choi Donghoon teams up with his favorites, Jun Jihyun and Lee Jungjae. It's a good film for history, but contrary to the reviews, I couldn't say the same. It's predictable with a weak script. I also couldn't ignore those little mishaps on the aesthetics (like twins sharing the same exact moles, they could have covered it for one of Jihyun's characters). It's rather trivial, but small things like that are critical.

  11. Ostermyers's rating of the film Assassination

BIM BAM BOUM ! The struggle is not over in Korea...

  12. Chichago_'s rating of the film Assassination

3.5 stars. The overall story is pretty predictable. However, the visuals are stunning; especially the final scene.

  13. oldeuboi's rating of the film Assassination

In 'Assassination' Choi Dong-hoon applied some formulas he used in 'The Thieves'. While the action quite competent, but the film doesn't have the same dynamic or depth on the drama aspect. Convolutedly confusing at first but getting better through the end.
