"Attack on Titan: Part 2" makes the perhaps misguided decision to sideline the human-on-Titan battles, easily the biggest selling point of the series, in favor of backstory and revelations. But the production values remain high, and at its best the sequel manages to continue the mix of high drama and gory splatter that made the first installment so entertaining, even if the characters are played as broad as possible.
I didn't have a problem with the aesthetics. But I really really hated the performances. Sadly, sometimes it could have been because of the cultural differences. The painfully long conversations paired with terrible acting was the worst part. And did I say they changed the story?
