Two closely related episodes. Youths make problems for two local orchestras about to compete nationally, and in a talent competition a young girl gets stage fright, while another lies to her boss to compete.

Officially launching the fecund Czech New Wave, Miloš Forman’s quasi-documentary film hints at the auteur’s theatre roots and his total devotion to the language of music. Originally two shorts that were released as a feature, Audition ironically reflects on the absurdity of everyday life.
