  1. Georges Iroh's rating of the film BaadAsssss Cinema

A social culture of unchecked white dominance, by virtue of its design, exploits Black identity. A fascinating study of the matrix of representation that keeps all its contradictions intact. The instance when bell hooks calls out Melvin Van Peebles for his profit motive is a revolutionary act, more-so than anything from those Seventies relics, great though they are.

  2. Stephen Prokow's rating of the film BaadAsssss Cinema

I read the title and I was like "hey, Melvin Van Peebles!" So I was hardly surprised to see his name attached.
