Ratings & Reviews

  1. Mtume Gant's rating of the film Backdraft

I’m glad that now 20 plus years later that we can finally admit that Ron Howard wasn’t a very good filmmaker and Hollywood forced him upon us cause no one even thinks about his trash movies anymore

  2. Dan Kenneth Gigernes's rating of the film Backdraft

Ron Howard's love letter to the life-risking firemen is weighed heavily with a laughable script about a crazed firefighter who is a pyromaniac and psychopath killing off people that he doesn't like. Better is the pyrotechnic effects which are impressive and the expensive state-of-the-art FX. It makes about as much sense as an Irwin Allen catastrophe movie.

  3. THE APOLL0's rating of the film Backdraft

One coming of age film merged with a political drama with the latter better than the former coupled with the unfortunately horrible acting of one of the lesser Baldwin's that asphyxiates the latter movie to aid the lifeless former movie

  4. el.'s rating of the film Backdraft

1,5/5. Even De Niro sucks in this one.

  5. Ghostman's rating of the film Backdraft

an interesting proletarian firefighter political thriller is undermined by the shoddy acting of billy baldwin and his stupid coming of age story

  6. rorydean's rating of the film Backdraft

This film succeeds against every reason it should stumble, fall and be forgotten. The opening is trite and borders on ridiculous yet I am compelled to watch this film whenever I catch it at any hour of the day - something compelling about the performances, the bond of brothers, the competition and the epic story of people, corruption and risking your life for strangers. Howard makes this work, somehow.

  7. Liam Brennan's rating of the film Backdraft

A decent action drama to say the least. Howard directs an all star cast with decent supporting turns from Scott Glen, Robert De Niro and Donald Sutherland. The audience is lead down a mystery path alongside a sibling rivalry which is much deeper than this. There is also a surprising star turn from Kurt Russell which makes this a decent watch, despite the fact there are several cringeworthy scenes. All in all 6/10
