Ratings & Reviews

  1. Branca's rating of the film Bad Hair

  2. Hugo Corona Platt's rating of the film Bad Hair

  3. Luz Sabina's rating of the film Bad Hair

  4. Andrea Streva's rating of the film Bad Hair

one of the most heartbreaking films i've ever seen

  5. saitosouta's rating of the film Bad Hair

This movie's about how to fix your bad hair into straight hair...partly yes, but mostly no, this tale is about how oppressing masculinity is against people in Venezuela. "I don't wanna dress like a girl !" "Is my son fag?"...painful that I'm listen to such a thing. But "Pelo Malo" depicts curse named masculinity, desolate poverty, love and absolute discommunication between son & mother. Hard to watch, but great film.

  6. Amanda A.Costa's rating of the film Bad Hair

Cute and sad at the same time. Sometimes i laughed, sometimes I almost cried. Such a misunderstood kid living in the third world and having a cruel mother to deal with. Only because a simple dream. 3.5/5

  7. Adri's rating of the film Bad Hair

  8. Magic Lantern Alison's rating of the film Bad Hair

  9. Al Green's rating of the film Bad Hair

A touching film about gender expectations in a very harsh and Patriarchal society. The lack of a decent male role model and the young boy's androgyny makes for an interesting search for his identy.

  10. raggiodisole's rating of the film Bad Hair

Lots of distinctly unlikeable characters clawing at the soul of a young boy. Unpleasant viewing, but fair play to the actors that carried it off.

  11. Shane Ewen's rating of the film Bad Hair

Worries about sexuality and gender politics in a country without father figures. Richly symbolic with some beautiful shots in Caracas' barrios. Excellent performances by the young actors.

  12. Carlos Filipe Freitas's rating of the film Bad Hair

First-time actors, Castillo and Zambrano, give irreproachable performances, in a sad tale that doesn't feel disproportionate in regard to several real lives.

  13. mauricio's rating of the film Bad Hair

Great realistic film, on poverty and identities in modern Latin America

  14. Sebastian Thiel's rating of the film Bad Hair

Simple & subtle. Less is more in this film. Intrigued to know where it would have gone if it was longer.

  15. Ayesha Casely-Hayford's rating of the film Bad Hair

A really brilliant and affecting film. Delicate yet bold acting. Really like the mother's character being so disturbed by her son but playing such a male-like character herself in reflection - in the job she does and how she treats other men.

  16. anwoody's rating of the film Bad Hair

    Poor, misunderstood kid

  17. Sophie Charlotte Rieger's rating of the film Bad Hair

  18. Scott Lucas's rating of the film Bad Hair

And you thought YOUR mom was tough. Like bikes in "Bicycle Thieves", hair is just the tip of the iceberg here.

  19. Atzin Ortiz González's rating of the film Bad Hair

A heartbreaking story that deals mostly with the harsh reality of intolerance regarding gender identity. Through minimal elements, Mariana Rondón creates a universe that not only shows though family dynamics but also reflects a society. Samuel Lange in the role of Junior is a knockout.

  20. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Bad Hair

"Esta película venezolana se encamina a un plano pesimista en donde las fantasías son tan irreales como los fallidos fotomontajes de una tienda de fotos. La fotografía, entendida como una ventana a lo utópico. Junior solo quiere tomarse una foto y lucir el cabello lacio para parecerse a uno de los cantantes que tanto admira. Esta “libertad” lo convertirá en un condenado prematuro..."

  21. Nelson Núñez's rating of the film Bad Hair
