    Goh-hime is a film about transience: that the highest arts and relationships are fleeting moments, embraced wholeheartedly. Teshigahara uses three interchangeable central characters, two political epochs, a rising Christian religion, arts woven into narrative, and wild tonal and narrative shifts to get the point. But Nakadai is truly the revelation here: his face showing the joy in loss of every passing second.
