A fun movie for what it is, exploiting a particular American fad. None of the AIP films are what you would call classics, although there are some gems (original Beach Party, horror like Dr. Phibes). This probably second best in the beach series, with Rickles and Keaton livening things up in the comedy dept. Pure camp fun here. Not everyone's cup of tea though, so hard to recommend. 3.5 stars
Supposedly this is one of the best of these kinds of movies, but that's not saying much, as it's pretty desperate camp with almost every gag falling painfully flat. Most of the time it's just shrill and annoying more than anything, even some Don Rickles one-liners couldn't keep it afloat. Checked it out as a curiosity, but I can't say I'm glad I did.
