  1. Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Beauties of the Night

A wannabe composer falls asleep and drifts between love affairs with different women in different time periods and begins to confuse, Chuang Tzu-like, waking and sleeping hours. In Belle Époque Paris he's a dandy whispering into a lady's sympathetic ear "I lived in a horrible world without love. I was a poor piano teacher and everyone made fun of me." Clair, considered over the hill by 1952, still had it. A charmer.
