  1. Katya Kazbek's rating of the film Before Stonewall

Wanted something to round up the sweet pride weekend of 2018, so we watched the pair of films "Before Stonewall/After Stonewall". This one was both less familiar (less documented stories) and less impactful (as anything prior to AIDS crisis) but amazingly informative. The shots of vintage drag queens and queer couples are priceless, and so worth watching for, along with the sweet old SAGE survivors.

  2. mpho3's rating of the film Before Stonewall

"From the time of Stonehenge to Stonewall, this has been the struggle," says one of the film's subjects, a former merchant marine. A prismatic exhibition of photos, film, and individual interviews that evidence an unwavering gay subculture, from the roaring '20s and conditional tolerance of WWII to the wiles of the McCarthy era and the impact of the civil rights and women's movements late '60s onwards.
