Ratings & Reviews

  1. AugusteB's rating of the film Beloved Sisters

Brilliant editing. It flows and flows and then sucks you right in.

  2. Carlos Filipe Freitas's rating of the film Beloved Sisters

Here, we get more lethargic and bored than invigorated or excited, and the film leaves no positive memories.

  3. Jason's rating of the film Beloved Sisters

Somewhere between Straub-Huillet interrogation and grand Hollywood gloss, Beloved Sisters has some of the most wonderful moments of men and women gloriously enmeshed, entangled, and compromised as e'er the Gods of cinema hath proffered unto us, problematized by fussy staging and questionable storytelling. Made during the era of e-mail, the sense of what it is like to wait for a letter from ones beloved is missing.

  4. Michael Harbour's rating of the film Beloved Sisters

An interesting story of romance and relationships with most of the passion sucked out of it. The music, lighting, camerawork, and constant resorting to text-on-the-screen to tell us what's happening scream made-for-television.

  5. José Neves's rating of the film Beloved Sisters

The will to make a fluid and "contemporary" film over an historical fiction and period, leads to a constant strengthening of that purpose, resulting in a long "selfie" where the film is a happy show(n), happily forgetting to structure a more consistent and less nonchalant narration - as opposed to "Les Deux Anglaises et le Continent" by Truffaut, clearly the model of this film.

  6. Kamran's rating of the film Beloved Sisters
