There is a problem of tone here. Maybe, when a movie is produced as a product, targeted for a very specific audience or trying to reach that strange audience made of "the family", sometimes its tone feels very artificial. Like it's trying to reach a certain criteria. We get that in certain Disney Channel productions. The over the top empty dialogues, the cheerful artificial nonsense. Here, it's just... weird. Silly.
It's a little longer than it needs to be, but altogether I think a good film. I know it didn't do too well at the box-office, but it has comedy, love, character development, some good actors, and not too bad acting. Worth a watch. A family film, albeit a long one.
