There is something nightmarish about Emigholz’s films with the near-relentless four-second shots piling on. I found this one extra crushing. It was hard to watch the rapid decline of the architecture which was so bright, so hopeful, so humanist in its beginnings. Still, only at Mubi, and I am grateful for that. But where is James Benning? Jodie Mack? More Peter Bo Rappmund! Less Franco-Euro Male-centrism, please.
