Black Field

Directed by Paul Clipson
United States, 2017

Both Clipson and Watkins design new ways to experience the familiar. Clipson through masterful use of superimposition and visual abstraction to reimagine landscapes, and Watkins in explorations of tones and resonance often designed for the space he’s performing in.

  • Slow Immersion's rating of the film Black Field

A gem the world will never see? Don't think this piece had been finalized yet. Watching Clipson's films is a strange experience now as I always thought his works were beautiful and ecstatic light (never depressing) and apart from a few films which brought melancholy (another void, union), but now I feel such sadness watching his works. A remarkable experience still, but stings too. RIP - no one will replace this man!
