Ratings & Reviews

  1. Nick Schwab's rating of the film Blackmail is My Life

What starts out as a uniquely stylized pop-art film quickly becomes lifeless 1/3 of the way through when the contrived and generic plot kicks in that lacks both tension and emotion. Does not rebound from this loss of spunk until the ending few minutes thus making it suffer from a sense of uncongeniality.

  2. ElTigreNegro's rating of the film Blackmail is My Life

Fukasaku pays tribute to Suzuki not only with the whistle, but with the black and white-to color transitions. The entire movie has a carefree energetic spirit, but at the same time it keeps with Fukasaku's bleak vision of the crime world.

  3. sbprime's rating of the film Blackmail is My Life

Love the subtle homage to Seijun Suzuki's TOKYO DRIFTER (1966) in the tune the characters whistle throughout the picture. Beautiful, outstanding picture.

  4. Joseph Wallace's rating of the film Blackmail is My Life
