Ratings & Reviews

  1. Ethan's rating of the film Bloody Mama

Shelley Winters gives a brilliant performance as a matriarch of a family of gangsters. Also we get to see a young DeNiro as a heroin addict here. A very acidic gangster picture.

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film Bloody Mama

Sexe et violence sur fond de crise sociale. Corman for ever ! www.cinefiches.com

  3. L'immoralistee's rating of the film Bloody Mama

  4. Wee Hunk's rating of the film Bloody Mama

This one is mean and nasty and ornery, and it takes itself seriously because it is based on a true story. It has pretty big stars. Shelley Winters plays Ma Barker, and it also has Robert DeNiro and Bruce Dern. The nudity is not fun. The prostitute looks realistic. There is blood. People are not happy in this film. There are many perversions.

  5. Aardsy's rating of the film Bloody Mama

    Very enjoyable garbage.

  6. Log Lady's rating of the film Bloody Mama

An interesting concoction of gangster action and psychological issues, it's easy to see why this is one of Corman's favorites. Ma Barker is a forceful - yet, in a way, pathetic - symbol of motherly love. She does everything for her boys, but doesn't understand the destructive side of her behavior. De Niro is both sad and funny as the glue sniffing junky Lloyd, and Stroud succeeds as the quiet and assertive one.

  7. Matt's rating of the film Bloody Mama

Has the same feel as a Choen Bros. movie

  8. Konrad Szlendak's rating of the film Bloody Mama

Classic pot bolier by Corman and AIP. Not the best genre movie the guy has made, but has some nice patterns overall. Shelley Winters is mad in her role and De Niro really looks like an insane soul with his weird baby-talk... if they worked it out properly, maybe it could have been something like "Bonnie & Clyde" of a B-movie realm while now it seems more like a blueprint for Corman's New World Pictures flicks.

  9. Marco Tassinari's rating of the film Bloody Mama

THE FAMILY - it began in Corman Factory.

  10. Tony Pauletto's rating of the film Bloody Mama

A who's-who of method actors make Corman's excessive exploitation film both artful and psychologically dense.
