  1. mpho3's rating of the film Blossoms of Fire

Terribly narrated, the filmmakers deliver an ethnography more superficial than deep. It's a good trade-off though, as they broaden the scope beyond "matriarchy" to depicting a culture rooted in community and gender equality. It's gay friendly too! In utopia(?), folks work hard to provide, but they know life's only necessities are "food, clothing and fiestas" (i.e unity). Lovely cinematography and music. 3.5 stars
