Ratings & Reviews

  1. Wee Hunk's rating of the film Blue Thunder

"The badness of a movie is directly proportional to the number of helicopters in it." - Dave Barry. It's true for the most part, but with some fairly obvious exceptions: 'Apocalypse Now' and 'Black Hawk Down'. It's just not good. Roy plays a super pilot of a super helicopter, and the main bad guy is Malcolm McDowell, who was doing the moustache twirling bad guy routine. Things get blown up.

  3. Chihao Tsang's rating of the film Blue Thunder

Random 80s plot, but fun enough to watch the one time

  4. Ethan's rating of the film Blue Thunder

This is an engaging action film that features another badass performance from Roy Schieder and Warren Oates last appearance on film.

  5. Mtume Gant's rating of the film Blue Thunder

Silly movie but you appreciate how much it hates government. Something you saw a lot of in 80's movies.

  6. Mugino's rating of the film Blue Thunder

Seeing this again decades later, I'm struck by its technological foresight. It begs to be reimagined and rebooted with drones, hackers and the NSA.

  7. Howard Orr's rating of the film Blue Thunder

Given the current debate about heavy-handed policing in the US, "Blue Thunder" should be a fascinating warning about the militarisation of law and order. However, it becomes just another dull action film with cardboard characters and flashy set-pieces. It's only riveting when the great Warren Oates is onscreen; the film is unworthy of him (and the great Galaxie 500 song).

  8. ‏ㅤ's rating of the film Blue Thunder

If only it veered more toward a voyeuristic Blue Velvet meets Rear Window in a helicopter.
