Unjustly marginalized film, which mingles well personal and collective memory, history and contemporary politics. Finely acted by the predominantly male cast, it is brooding, melancholic and strangely nostalgic. With beautiful shots (maybe there is Taviani/Angelopoulos influence here), it is a controlled film about the gradual descent from the 'system' to 'otherness'. All this, amid rusty docks and shady characters.
