Restored, 4k. A (rein)invention of Italian comedy: integrated in the Italian ambience of the genre and admitting its characters and model situations, it divertes slowly to an ambience of paranoia and obsession that was his greatest identity in the 70's and made him one of the strongest individualists of that decade's cinema. The end is astounding in its forward movement towards an absolute loss and a "grande bouffe".
Absolutely brilliant! Amazing, original avantgarde opening, followed by a super original, absurd plot, that makes you laugh a lot but at the same time holds so much truth about the way in modern society so unimportant things are considered important. What a shame this film is not more widely known! Plus Marcello Mastroianni is in it.
