The Sound Barrier

David Lean United Kingdom, 1952

Slappy McGee's rating of the film Breaking the Sound Barrier

Jolly good! Possibly the MOST BRITISH film I've ever seen. There ARE some exciting moments in this film, but they are bookended by numerous stuffy and dreadfully boring scenes. Very cold in tone, almost like a movie pretending to be an action movie. A bunch of pilots and their engineers try to break the sound barrier while maintaining a smashingly normal domestic life, wut wut? Tally-ho and all that, don't you know.
