Krasinski chose very ambitious source material for his directorial debut and unfortunately, like most of Foster Wallace's work it's hard imagine it ever translating well onto the screen. If you loved the book you'll find this hard to get through, if didn't read the book you probably won't want to after watching this.
there were some brilliant moments in this film, marked by great performances and touches of magical realism. krasinski chose great parts from the source to adapt onscreen but i think he still needs to find his way as a director. overall this is not a bad debut. the dialogue definitely sounds overly scripted.
