  5. Max Seqgar's rating of the film Brother

Like a good old fashioned Samurai, Kitano entertains over again as a lonesome fatalist Nipponese cowboy.

  6. aind.rodolphe's rating of the film Brother

It is difficult to be completely honest with this film. Do we have here an americanized version of a Kitano picture ? In a way, yes. The main plot takes place in Los Angeles, but it really doesn’t matter that much. This picture is an encounter. A strange look at two worlds that do not fully understand each other. But, for a brief moment, those two worlds intermingle and then dissipate as quickly as they met. Odd&sad.

  11. Dan Kenneth Gigernes's rating of the film Brother

While an huge action star for decades in Japan, "Brother" is a kind-of introduction movie for the Western audience who doesn't know how cool and fun Takeshi Kitano really is. What is impressive with this "Americanized" version is that it manage to keep it's Asian feel throughout and hopefully many new viewers got their eyes opened for this fantastic star.

  15. Alvise Narduzzi's rating of the film Brother

  19. Dominic Simard-Jean's rating of the film Brother

The basketball scene is one of the best scene in history of gangster movies.

  20. Fabio Di Felice's rating of the film Brother

  21. Johnny Mislow's rating of the film Brother

  22. Nicholas Gregory's rating of the film Brother

Repetitive and 2-dimensional Hollywoodized-version of Kitano that thankfully retains its cool style and flippant dark-humor. Kitano and Epps have a great sense of camaraderie due to their actions, expressions, and reactions, not the dialogue itself. It's pretty shallow and detached at times, yet is a quite fun n' cheeky movie.

  23. Onur Saka's rating of the film Brother

An over promising yet dramatically under delivering movie. The movie filled with two dimensional characters with no decent backgrounds and motivations. The script tries to build suspense through air of secrecy yet this ends up nowhere. Not really recommended unless you are a real fan of the genre or the director.
