Our take

Cursed with the anxiety of existence, the neurotic characters of György Kovásznai’s animated feature not only contort into fantastical shapes but even break out into jazz songs. A love-triangle farce with a political heart, this gorgeously restored cult hit lampoons the stagnancy of 1970s Hungary.
