One of the funnest musicals ever. A shame a lot of the actors were reduced to playing minor roles in most films. This is a good showcase for them, showing that they were more than capable of carrying a film. Some very memorable numbers here. Essential
The sequence at the night club with Ellington and the dancers is beyond joyful. Everyone in the film is great. The story, maybe not so. Who cares? One more thing: Eddie Anderson is terrific and neglected.
